Itinerary

Day Program
First day
  • Karakol - Ala-Köl lake - Sirota Valley
  • Elevation: +1000m
  • Distance: 12-14 km
  • Overnight: Yurt camp
The trek starts from Karakol town. First, we need to get to the entrance of Karakol National Park. A taxi takes us to the first bridge. Once we arrive to the first bridge, we walk along the old road towards the Sirota bridge for about 3 hours or 10 km. Here the difficult part of the trail begins. After climbing for about +500m, we will arrive at the Sirota camp. We spend the night at the yurt and have dinner.
Second day
  • Ala-Köl lake - Ala-Köl pass - Altyn-Arashan Valley
  • Elevation: +400 m, -1400 m
  • Distance: 12 km
  • Overnight: Guesthouse
There is a clear path from Ala-Köl lake to the top of the pass. The ascent to the top takes about 1 - 1.5 hours. After reaching the top we will face a slighlty dangerous path downhill. You need to be careful while walking down as the rocks are quite slippery. It usually takes 6 hours from the top of the pass to the valley. In the guesthouse you'll dinner. There are private hot springs you can enjoy after a long day hiking or you can visit a wild hot spring pool called 'bird's nest', which is only 15 min away from the guesthouse.
Third day After having breakfast at the guesthouse, we will walk down to Ak-Suu village which is about 3 to 4 hours or 15 km away. From Ak-Suu we will take a taxi to Karakol.
